Q: Can anyone do a Dance Activ-8 class?

Absolutely! At Dance Activ-8 we believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to dance, regardless of age, ability or fitness. All you need is a positive attitude, energy and enthusiasm. Dance Activ-8 classes are aimed at 16 and above and Dance Activ-8 Junior classes are suitable for ages 15 and under.

Q: What should I wear / bring to class?

Generally we recommend; combats, joggers, or loose fitting trousers (no jeans!) and trainers or similar dance shoes. As you will be working up a sweat, it’s ideal to bring a hand towel and it’s also extremely important to bring plenty of water to you keep hydrated.

Q: Do I need previous dance experience to join in?

No previous dance experience is required. Just be prepared to sweat and have a lot of fun!

Q I have just found out I am pregnant: can I still take part in a class?

We would caution that our dance exercise classes are not suitable for anyone who’s pregnant or recently given birth. We’d advise 12 weeks recovery time after birth before starting a new exercise class, but then be sure to give us a call as dance fitness will give you a perfect way to shape up, increase your energy and support your emotional health.

Q: I have a problem with my knees / back: can I still join a class?

Our dance classes cover a variety of moves so, if you let your instructor know about any conditions or injuries you have beforehand, they will be able to advise you on alternative movements and exercises to do. The best thing about our dance fitness classes is that you are able to control your intensity level at low or high impact, so you can go at a pace that works for your body.

Q: Are the classes mixed for both men and women?

Yes, all of our classes are suitable for both men and women and we teach mixed groups.

Q: I have no co-ordination between my arms and legs: will I still be able to join in?

Our dance fitness classes are designed to be fun, so there’s no need to worry about learning or perfecting steps, just enjoy the class! If you can’t get a particular move, make up your own version of it – as long as you are having fun and working up a sweat, you’ll still be getting the benefit.

We believe it is really important that our members feel comfortable with one another in class and so we run social events on a frequent basis to help you all get to know each other. Generally, in the first few weeks of each term, we organise a night out for our members and their friends. We often get great concessions on drink deals and cut price or free entry into clubs.
